The Vanguard represents the leading edge of modern theater-making. The tools and techniques we use have been passed from generation to generation for thousands of years. Reminiscent of the nomadic troupes of players we carry everything we need to perform any show anywhere at any time. All we need is some space to play and an audience to play along. We believe that telling stories is a fundamental practice of humanity and we fight to preserve this precious artform.

And most importantly: we love Shakespeare. Our goal is to destigmatize Shakespeare and turn the text back into the silly goofy community experience it was originally. Even when we use non Shakespearean text, what we learned from Shakespeare remains the core of our process.
